8 June Arriving in Leon at Parador San Marcos

We arrive ar Parador San Marcos in Leon ( a Parador is a luxury Spanish hotel usually in an historic building-  often in palaces, castles or monasteries... ) - they give pilgrims special prices!!! We are spoiling ourselves at 102 euros per night bed and breakfast- around R750 each!

The parador San Marcos is one of the most beautiful Renaissance buildings in Spain.  It was originally a monastery founded in the 12C to provide lodging for pilgrims traveling to Santiago- hence the special prices for pilgrims... But rebuilt in the 16C. The carvings are of religious and historical events, on the facade which is over 100 Metres long...

Our bedroom...!!

My first bath in Spain! Yay!

Not going to be any bottles left when we leave!

Our view from the little Juliet  balcony to the medieval bridge and Rio Bernesga

More photos later of some of the public rooms along the passages..
