Day 10 29 May from Viana to Navarette 21.5 km

No wonder Spaniards eat so much bread... Delicious bakeries as we walk out of the city

Charming setting as we walk past

Leaving Viana are some small farms growing vegetables

On the road again...yay! Sunshine but still cool- around 10 degrees

We are so pleased with sunshine, Ursula suggests Rob dries his socks by swinging them around to dry them- they are so thick they don't dry easily.. And it's difficult to dry washing in the rain!  at the albergues so many using the one tumble dryer that we often miss out...

Breathtaking rolling hills always - and wild flowers...

Sheep in our way? Or are we in their way?

Not all of the way is pretty ...especially entering into the towns... We are now crossing from Navarre province into the wine growing La Rioja province

More graffiti in a tunnel. Makes you think doesn't it?

Walking into the outskirts of Logrono are colorful cafe bars

And we pass a field of allotment plots-  behind us.. These girls were delighted to have their photo taken - I thought they were charming- dressed so colour fully

Fields of wild flowers continue to delight

The bridge we walk over into Logrono- the largest city so far with 130,000 inhabitants.. Quite a shock to be in the busyness of the city after so much quiet, often only accompanied by birdsong and the crunch of stones underneath boots..

Logrono - mix of medieval and modern - OMG! A Chinese bazaar in Spain?

Leaving Logrono, beautiful pathways for walkers and cyclists

Amazing graffiti in another tunnel... The walking stages clearly marked. We are at stage 17.

Even the ducks siesta at the local dam outside Logrono..

Archie having a siesta as he catches a free ride...

The way is always closely marked...

We pass a sawmill and pilgrims have used some of the strips of bark to make hundreds of crosses
In the wire fence ...

Walking into Navarette is the local winery promoting ...???

Pam finished by 4p.m! Not sure how to walk the last 2 kms....bunions aching...

We made it to an Auberge which has a private room with sheets and towels! What luxury!
Usually it's a sleeping bag, camping towel and bunk bed...!!!

Day 9 28 May from Los Arcos to Viana 19 km

Not much rain predicted!  Haha! Most of the day our ponchos are on and it rains!

So many inspiring moments where we stop and stare!

Yay! Breakfast is in sight!

We loved this women's rucksack details...her shell has beads, there is a woven purse on the right and look at the tassel detail on the left...

We get very excited to see any BAR info...especially near mealtimes...( one gets coffee, sandwiches
Cool drinks or alcohol at a bar)

Rob buys breakfast- half a baguette each, chorizo sausage and cheese , coffee and hot chocolate...

Walking further up the village is this display outside a home on the way... Pilgrims buy fruit to eat on the way...

It's around noon and Rob says we are walking into serious rain!  I don't want to believe him!
We arrive in Viana soaked, shoes ,socks and the heat from walking generates sweat inside the poncho
Too....

Viana - ancient medieval village with around 3,500 inhabitants- not much has changed since then...

We book into a Pension and both Rob and Pam need a little something from the Robs pharmacist supplies!

Nothing opens before 5pm and we gaze longingly into this window...Spanish  people seem to eat around 9 pm- we are asleep by then! The fresh cherries are delicious, bananas n apples too

Cute dog at the bar we had dinner at belonging to the barmaid... Most dogs are tied up during the day - it's hard to see.

We had supper with this couple- his name is Peaceful and last name Warrior!- he did the Camino 5 years ago and it changed his life . He changed his name officially on all documents! I called him PW -
He says a lot of people call him this! Nice couple - he's also meeting a girl he met on the Camino 5 years ago in Santiago - they haven't communicated but had agreed to meet in 5 years.... I'm curious to know if she will be there...

Day8 27 May from Estella to Los Arcos 21.5 km

We were walking for about 20 minutes and on the way out of Estella when we saw.....
Free wine fountain - Rob very excited! He's been looking forward to this for ages!
Many peregrinos find this an uplifting experience at 8a.m today- smiles all round

Fuente del vino- fountain of wine - we're in wine country, and bought a bottle of vino tinto last night for 2Euros- it's normally that a glass!

How to confuse peregrinos- give them two roads to choose from- Rob discussing with Dutch peregrinos which road to take.

Walked along paths with wonderful indigenous bush...

Wild cherries- delicious!

And then Along quiet roads through fields and fields of golden wheat- spectacular views!

Wonderful sun today! 9 degrees to start with then around 20..Rob stripping and complaining that the chocolate croissants and baguettes are increasing certain areas in his body.

Most peregrinos take shoes and socks off every 2 or so hours...many feet taking strain now...
After about 130 km of walking.

3 km ago a sign says bar... There is nothing around and no village for miles... We round a corner and there is an entrepreneur who has set up a van with great tasty options, including coffee, fresh orange juice, baguettes chips fruit...

Most peregrinos stop for snacks... And we take about an hour, socks off, soaking in the sun.

2 beers in the village square around 3 pm- we did well today arriving in Los Arcos around 2, showering, feet up for a bIt then heading for inspiration and reward!

Other peregrinos doing the same....
