Day 7 26 May from Penta la Reina to Estella 22.9 km

Each day has it's gifts and challenges!  All senses are engaged!   As we leave Puenta la Reina we walk along the river and birds sing their hearts out, real cuckoos ! Cuckoo, cuckoo! Water sounds from the river, from streams, springs, gush and rushing, the sound of the breeze, the sounds of wind, the sounds of silence... The smells of the wild flowers- honeysuckle, wild dog rose, fennel ( which I chew along the ways) the sights which constantly surprise. The challenges of the way... The way of stones- so difficult to balance and not slip...

The famous bridge at Puenta la Reina...

We start off full of energy...I am "slack packing" - my rucksack is being taken forward!  I feel free!

So amazing to walk away from traffic, in nature...

Oops, up we go.....including the cyclists.....

The challenge of walking through mud and balancing! Thank goodness for our sticks

We stop for breakfast- chocolate muffins, coffee...

And can't resist the chocolate croissants...

We walk toward the village of Cirauqui.. Which is the main picture on our blog... It's as pretty as portrayed....

Very exciting to be here....

It's amazing to walk through the little villages ...

Unbelievable views...

Lunchtime- shoes off!

 Wild honeysuckle....

We're in Mediterranean Spain - olive trees, vines....

Poppies delight us growing wild between the wheat ....

We had breakfast with a girl and when I asked if she was Spanish she said no, she wasBasque- she does not consider herself Spanish!
