Day 26 15 June from Molinaseca to Villafranca del Bierzo 32 km

Rob's new address: The Knights Templar Castle, Ponferrada...

Built 12 C ....The Knights Templar defended the pilgrims in the Middle Ages.

The view from the ramparts overlooking the back of the Castle..

Amazing library of ancient books... Too incredible to imagine how long it took to write a book! By hand, and illustrate it...

On the way again...

Riding is now safe on the Pilgrims route, so we ride through vineyards, with rolling hills in the background.

We stop to buy cherries from an old Spaniard ...

Who has put a stool next to the stream...

Just amazing to have feet in cold water...

The view while sitting on the stool.. So many moments to savour when you slow down..

Riding through more beautiful scenery...

It gets so hot there is a haze...

At last we arrive at Villafranca in the Province of Castille Leon

And we find the Alberge that the SouthAfrican fraternity recommended! Another experience!

Owned by Jesus Jato and run by him and his family.

We're in a small dorm tonight for Seniors!  Only 12 in this room...

The girls bathroom- possibly the worst shower I've had so far... The water was either cold or scalding hot.. Character building..

And then to wash!

The chef making our communal supper... It turned out to be a great evening and good home made meal...
