Food and drink along the away

VWe've taken a few days off to rest my foot- staying with Robs brother near San Sebastián in the prettiest Basque town of Hondarribia- the sun is shining, the sea is sparkling and we are thinking about buying bikes to ride to Santiago.  Bursitis doesn't seem to heal quickly but if I'm off my feet I am sure I can ride the 300 Kilometres from Leon.  Rob may also get a bike ( rather than walk) and we will leave the bikes with a message for someone who needs them to use them - it's cheaper to buy rather than hire...

Pintxos rather than Tapas is the speciality in this area -  Delicious range of Basque small snacks/ portions.  Lunch starts around 2pm and one would have a couple and/or then in the evenings with a drink.
We eat about 4 or 5  Pintxos each when we can..!!

You walk into any bar and the pintos are on the counter.

Fresh artichokes...

Coiled bacon wraps ..

Prawn and cottage cheese on panne..

Chorizo ...

Piementoes ..

And chocolate...

The bread is to live for...

Tapas in Pamplona.. Tapas are also snacks but bigger portions ...

And vino tinto is served with every meal..

More tapas...

Breakfast is usually tortilla - Spanish omelette with onion and potatoe... Delicious ..served with a slice of panne.. And if course coffee con leche - coffee with milk..

Archie also enjoys vino tinto...

  1. Hi, Pam and Rob. I stumbled across your blog and have been following your posts as I am also hoping to do 'The Walk' next year, so I am trying to glean as much info as possible. I have been really enjoying your photos - inspiring! can't wait to get my plans together! Hope the rest of the trip goes well and you enjoy your bike ride to the end.
    Regards, Clare (Also JHB!)
